Palo Alto is Hassett Hardware’s original location and carries everything you need including electrical, plumbing, hardware, housewares, paint and more. Hassett Hardware started in Campbell, in 1957 with Bob Hassett and his brother as Hassett Brothers Hardware. They moved the store to Marsh Manor in Redwood City in 1961. In1993 Bob’s son, Larry, (who’d been working in the hardware store since he was a kid and had taken over the business from is father years before) noticed that Palo Alto didn’t have its own hardware store and decided to do something about it. He gathered all his resources and purchased the property at 875 Alma street at the corner of Alma and Channing. The building was half demolished and it took them six full months to get it up and running – and Palo Alto Hardware was born. The company rebranded itself as Hassett Hardware in 2011. We have the most dedicated family of employees in the Bay Area and our Palo Alto location is no exception. Some of our team has been with us in this location for over 20 years and one of our best cashiers, Debbie, has been with us since the year we opened this store!

“Love this bustling business. You rarely see the staff alone because they’re always quick to drop what they’re doing to help a customer, but remember when they’re at their busiest to be patient if they are helping someone else because that’s what they do best- help. I rarely know what I need or what I can use in place of something else for my project, but they always seem to know, and they explain things so I can get the right things and be on my way without having to return until my next project.
They also have a great variety of household items and gifts. Totally beats driving to EPA and Home Depot.”
