Your vehicle should always have its own backup supplies, but especially during severe weather, it’s important to make sure you have well-provisioned vehicle supplies.

  • Proper size and inflated spare tire
  • Jumper cables
  • Jack and wheel wrench
  • Multipurpose tool
  • Pressure gauge
  • Vise grips
  • Car battery charger
  • Portable air compressor tire inflator
  • Tow strap
  • Antifreeze
  • Motor oil: 2-3 quarts
  • If you have a truck with outside storage like a roof rack or empty bed, you can carry a spare fuel container filled with gasoline – make sure you are using a container meant to store flammable liquids. DO NOT store gasoline inside your car or in a plastic container.
  • A high-lift jack isn’t essential, but it’s a good idea

If you’ve got your car ready, make sure your home is ready too.
